Area and Perimeter In this lesson, you will learn what composite shapes are. We will also explore how to calculate the perimeter of composite shapes. We will learn how shapes can be split into other smaller shapes to help this process. You will need a sharp pencil and a ruler to help.

1. Headstands: A great activity for your core muscles and to get blood going to the brain. 2. Skipping rope: If you have downstairs neighbours who complain, go in the hall or outside your building. 3. Obstacle course: Create a furniture course in your home or take chalk and make a course outside. Parents, add in specific mental or physical challenges to keep them guessing. 4. Wheelbarrow, crab, and bear-walk races: Holding one of these tough positions gives you a real workout. 5. Animal races: Hop like a bunny or frog; squat and waddle like a duck; and so on. |

Learning focus: Dance form other cultures.

Kokuma Dance Company perform stepping and jumping patterns with strong arm gestures. They are accompanied by African drum rhythms. Swinging and jumping motifs are developed and performed in different formations within the space. The traditional costume from Ghana and the colourful backdrop enhance a vibrant stage set. An interview with one of the dancers reveals how different dances across Africa are fused together to create their dance routines.
