Updates for SEND at Hawthorn
Parent drop in sessions.
We are hoping to start parent drop in sessions as soon as possible. These will happen fortnightly and offer an opportunity to come and meet with Mrs Cook to discuss your child's learning. Dates for these will be shared online and through newsletters over the next few weeks.
Please remember if you have any questions or concerns, Mrs Cook is available in school, over the phone and through email. Please do not hesitate to contact her.
Settling in phone calls from teachers will start as we move in to October as well as a call from Mrs Cook or HI staff to share with you how your child is settling in to school.
Staff will be working on assessing all pupils within the first few weeks on the Autumn term. This will ensure that SEND pupils have precise, up to date targets. These targets will be shared with parents as soon as possible so you can support children further at home. We hope to send these home by the second week in October.
Our outside agency support looks a little different this term as we all adjust to Covid 19 changes. We are delighted to say after sharing risk assessments and online meetings, we are able to welcome back our outside agencies including Pupil School Support, Communication and Autism Team and our Education Psychologist. If your child is booked in to see any outside agency, you will receive a call the day before to discuss the risk assessment and ensure that your child does not have any symptoms relating to Covid-19.
