West Bromwich Albion Primary Roadshow – Active Allies...

Pupils across the school thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the West Bromwich Albion Primary Roadshow, which focused on the important theme of "Active Allies." During this whole-school event, children explored what it means to be an ally and how they can support, encourage and include others both in school and within the wider community.

Through a range of interactive activities, pupils worked collaboratively with children from different year groups, demonstrating excellent teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. The roadshow encouraged children to listen to one another, respect different viewpoints and recognise the positive impact they can have on the lives of others through kindness and support.

Year 2 particularly enjoyed the engaging Active Phonics sessions, which combined physical activity with learning and helped children develop their phonics skills in a fun and memorable way. The activities promoted confidence, participation and a love of learning while encouraging children to work together and celebrate each other's successes.

Following the roadshow, pupils reflected on how they could become "Active Ally Champions" within both their school and local community. Children identified practical ways they could support others, challenge unkind behaviour, include those who may feel left out and help create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

This learning linked closely to Article 2, the right to be treated fairly and without discrimination, Article 12, the right to have a voice and be heard, and Article 29, which encourages education to develop respect for others and prepare children to be responsible members of society. The roadshow inspired pupils to recognise that even small acts of kindness and inclusion can make a significant difference to the wellbeing of others.
