Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery...

Starting nursery is a major milestone for you and your child. As parents, you want your children to make the best possible start to school life. We all want the same thing – a happy, confident child who enjoys going to school and loves learning. By building an effective home/school partnership, we can all achieve this aim together.

You and your child will be supported by Mrs Allen, our Class Teacher and Mrs Beardmore, our Teaching assistant. Please view our Year overview and Autumn Term Overview to see what our youngest learners will be engaged in this year.

Please view the 'Welcome to Nursery' presentation for further information.

We have been learning about spiders and how they make their webs. We have been reading stories about Spiders, counting how many legs they have, creating our own insects out of playdough and making our own printed webs! We found a spider web in our role play area. We wonder how the spider made such a huge web?

Commonwealth day 2022...

World book day 2022! To celebrate our love of reading, we read the story the Great Paper Caper by Oliver Jeffers. We made our own paper planes and had a paper plane competition, flying the planes outside. We enjoyed dressing up as some of our favourite characters and reading some of our favourite books.

The three little pigs have visited our classroom! They have turned our role play area into a construction site. We have been working together to help the three pigs build houses!

We have been busy writing Christmas cards, posting them and wrapping presents all ready for upcoming celebrations.

Stick man is here! We have been reading the story 'Stick man' by Julia Donaldson. We have been exploring winter, we had to save Stick man, he was lost and covered in frost! We also explored natural objects to see which ones float and which ones sink. We made our own stick people too.

Children in Need 2021

For Remembrance day, we reflected on why we wear poppies and made some of our own poppies....

Outdoor water play...

Environmental sounds. We have enjoyed drumming outdoors, exploring the different sounds with our beaters.

For Black History Month we researched, designed and made our own African drums, we enjoyed playing our drums to different types of African music

We have been practising pencil grip, control, recognising our names and writing them

It's Autumn and the leaves are changing colour and falling down!

We are learning to be good listeners, tuning into sounds all around us, for phonics we went on a listening walk around our school...

We are settling really well into Nursery. We are learning how to keep ourselves safe, how to follow class routines and how to look after our toys. We are learning how to be good friends too! We've met our class puppet Pip, who helps us to make good choices. We are enjoying indoor and outdoor learning.

Hawthorn Ice Cream Parlour

We have been thinking about some of the things we like to do during the summer time.
