Year six had an amazing opportunity to visit Birmingham College University. Within the day, they got to experience what it would be like to study on campus. The class also experienced what it would be like to be taught in a lecture room. In addition to this, the children were able to take part in a hunt in the library looking at the fantastic range of books available to students on site. Finally, year six role-played a trial in one of the mock courtrooms in which a defendant was tried and found guilty of a crime. The class had a fantastic time and this allowed them to also understand where they could potentially go to study in the future, linking to our rights respecting article 28 ( right to education).

The reenactment will also feature a powerful reading of Neville Chamberlain’s famous speech, declaring that Britain was at war with Germany in 1939. Welcome to Year 6!
We are excited to begin our journey together in what will be a memorable and rewarding final year of primary school. Year 6 is a time to grow in confidence, challenge ourselves, and celebrate achievements—both big and small.

Throughout the year, we will explore new ideas, work hard to prepare for the transition to secondary school, and enjoy opportunities to shine across all areas of learning. Most importantly, our classroom is a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and encouraged to do their very best.

We can’t wait to share our learning, successes, and experiences with you as the year unfolds!
