Our key text for the next two weeks is Handa's Surprise. The children have thoroughly enjoyed acting out the story using the role play puppets and small world provision. The children have even practised balancing cones on their head, just like Handa balanced the basket of fruit! I spy a teacher practising too!

In Writing, we practice writing our initial letter sounds matched to the sounds we have been learning in Phonics. Some of us mark make, while others practise our letter formation. Can you spot one of us using visual phonics while we write the sound 'm'?
During Phonics we have learnt to listen to environmental sounds. We could hear birds singing, an aeroplane and the fan in the school kitchen.
During our first two weeks of the school year we have been learning about matching, sorting and comparing in Maths. We have enjoyed using things we find at home and in the school environment to match, sort and compare!
The children have settled in well and are enjoying making use of the hub!
A big welcome back to school for our children in HRB1! For some of you, this will be the start of your school journey with us. We hope that you will enjoy your time whilst you are here. We have had a lovely start to the term and loved spending time with your smiley faces!
Phonics Hunt... We have enjoyed using Phonics within the continuous provision in our room. The children have particularly enjoyed the Phonics Hunts set up by Miss Rowaiye and Mrs Todd. The phonics hunts are linked to the sound we have learnt the previous week to ensure that we keep our learning 'on the boil.'
