Partnership Visit to Wilson Stuart Special Academy...

A group of exemplary pupils from across the school were selected to take part in a special visit to Wilson Stuart Special Academy. The afternoon provided a fantastic opportunity for children from both schools to come together, develop new friendships and learn from one another through a range of collaborative activities.

The visit began with class discussions where pupils shared ideas, listened to different perspectives and worked together to build positive relationships. Children then took part in practical outdoor challenges, including designing and constructing a marble run, which required teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving skills. Pupils also enjoyed participating in basketball activities, encouraging cooperation, resilience and mutual support.

The visit took place as part of World Book Day celebrations, highlighting the importance of reading for pleasure and ensuring all children have access to high-quality books. As a generous gesture, Wilson Stuart kindly gave every pupil from our school the opportunity to choose two free books to take home and enjoy. This was a wonderful surprise and helped to further promote a love of reading.

The experience linked closely to Article 23, which recognises the rights of children with disabilities to participate fully in their communities, Article 28, the right to education, and Article 31, the right to play and take part in leisure activities. The visit also promoted the British Values of Mutual Respect and Tolerance, as children worked together, celebrated differences and built meaningful connections with their peers.
