WCC Cricket Programme...
KS2 pupils were delighted to take part in an adapted cricket programme delivered through WCC. Over the four-week course, children developed and refined their throwing, catching and teamwork skills through a range of engaging and inclusive activities designed to build confidence and participation for all.
As the programme progressed, pupils demonstrated increasing confidence, resilience and determination, with many children becoming more willing to challenge themselves and try new skills. The sessions provided opportunities for children to celebrate success, support one another and develop a positive attitude towards physical activity.
A particularly valuable aspect of the programme was the opportunity for pupils to work alongside and interact with children from other year groups. These experiences helped to strengthen friendships, develop communication skills and encourage children to see themselves as part of a wider school community of "global citizens".
The programme linked closely to Article 24, the right to the best possible health, by promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles, and Article 29, which states that education should help children develop their talents, abilities and personalities to their fullest potential. Through sport, pupils not only improved their physical skills but also developed important life skills such as cooperation, respect, perseverance and teamwork.
