Read Cycle – Sharing a Love of Reading...
Our Read Cycle after-school initiative encourages children and families to share a love of reading while promoting sustainability and community spirit. Parents and carers generously donate pre-loved books, which are then made available for other families to browse, borrow and swap.
The project provides children with access to a wide variety of books and helps foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading for pleasure. It also encourages families to engage in reading together at home, supporting children's language development, imagination and educational progress.
Read Cycle links closely to Article 28, the right to education, and Article 29, which states that education should develop children's talents and abilities to their fullest potential. The initiative also promotes the British Values of Mutual Respect and Individual Liberty, as children are encouraged to make their own choices about what they read while respecting and caring for shared resources.
We are incredibly grateful Mrs Beardmore for regularly organising this event and, to the families and staff who have supported this initiative through their book donations, helping to ensure that every child has opportunities to discover and enjoy new books.
