Year 2 Promoting Children's Rights and Wellbeing...
Year 2 have been developing their understanding of the UNICEF Rights of the Child through a range of engaging and meaningful activities. As part of their rights learning, the children took part in a Kahoot quiz which challenged them to recall and apply their knowledge of different rights. They demonstrated excellent understanding and enthusiasm, confidently answering questions about a variety of articles and discussing why these rights are important for children around the world.
The children also played an active role in promoting positive mental health by delivering a mental health assembly. Through their presentation, they shared key messages about wellbeing, kindness, feelings and the importance of talking to trusted adults when they need support. This helped to raise awareness across the school and encouraged pupils to understand that looking after their mental health is just as important as looking after their physical health.
These activities linked closely to Article 24, the right to the best possible health, including mental health and wellbeing, and Article 12, the right to express views and have them listened to. By sharing their learning with others, Year 2 developed confidence, communication skills and a deeper understanding of how they can be advocates for children's rights within their school community.
