Welcome to Year 1!

A note from Miss Phillips.
A huge welcome to all our Year 1 children and families!
I hope you've all had a lovely summer and have enjoyed spending time with family and friends. As we begin a new school year, I am so excited to welcome everyone into our Year 1 classroom and start what I'm sure will be a fantastic year together.
Year 1 will be full of fun, learning, laughter and lots of new experiences. We will discover exciting topics, enjoy stories, get creative, ask lots of questions and learn so many new things along the way. Most importantly, we will have lots of opportunities to make wonderful memories together.
We will be beginning our year by learning all about The Great Fire of London, and I know this will be a fascinating topic for the children. Before the summer holidays, the children were set a home learning challenge to build their own Tudor house. These will play an important part in our Stunning Start, helping us bring history to life as we travel back in time to 1666. I am really looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful Tudor houses and celebrating the children's hard work and creativity.
I can't wait to get to know all the children better and watch them grow in confidence throughout the year. My aim is to make sure that every child feels happy, safe and valued in our classroom so that they can enjoy school and feel proud of all they achieve.
Starting a new school year can feel exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but we will be there every step of the way to support the children as they settle into Year 1. I know they are going to amaze us with their enthusiasm, kindness and determination.
Thank you for your continued support. Working together helps our children thrive, and I am looking forward to sharing all of the exciting learning, special moments and achievements that will make this year so memorable.
Here's to a wonderful Year 1 adventure!
