A Sunny day...A Green Wicket...Year 4 Playing Cricket...
A great day out was had by Year 4 and some Year 6 Sports Crew at Edgbaston, the world famous test and County Cricket Ground. We were for much of the day, sole occupants as we were guided around the amazing stadium by a gentleman called Rick. We went into parts of the stadium that are out of bounds to most visitors...the executive boxes, the press room, the T.V. studio and commentary box. We were even given access to the Scorers Room and the Control Room where all the important decisions are made!
After working through a quiz about all that we had learnt and lunch, we were given a coaching and games session in the Players/Coaches only Gymnasium. All in all, a fantastic day... even for those children and adults that don't particularly enjoy Cricket!
Thank you to all the accompanying staff, to Mr Millington for driving a minibus, to Miss Zentani for organising the day and to Rick and Martin at Warwickshire County Cricket Ground.
Do you now what type of bird this is? Have you ever seen one? This week Year 4 will be reading a narrative poem which bears the name of this spectacular bird.
