Welcome back to the new Spring Term! We have lots of exciting learning to look forward to and some great experiences coming up. Please take a look at what your child will be learning about this term.

Look at what we've been learning in science.....

Have you ever wondered what happens to food after you have eaten it? Well Year 4 recreated their own digestive system in an investigation to find out!

Take  a look at the photographs and ask your child to talk you through the investigation.

Year 4 have been making sculptures as part of their D.T . learning. They have made sculptures of Mayan Gods. The children drew several sketches of Mayan Gods before choosing the God they wanted to make a sculpture of. They selected their own tools and evaluated their sculptures after they had made them.

Welcome to Year 4!

Our class teachers are Mrs Williams and Miss Rice (associate teacher), our classroom teaching assistant is Mrs Barrow, our Year 4 teacher of the deaf is Miss Paulson and our teaching assistant of the deaf is Ms Hodgetts.

We are looking forward to having an exciting year of learning building upon the children's previous learning experiences and we have an interesting and engaging curriculum planned for the year.

During the year there will be three themes: A Place in the Sun with a focus on Geography, Heroes and Villains which has a History focus and The Rhythm of Life in which Science is the main driver.

We would like your children to read at home every evening and record in their Reading Records - we ask that you please ensure this record is returned to school on a daily basis to help us to monitor the children’s reading. Children will receive home learning activities on a weekly basis.

In Maths we will be building on the children’s previous learning in all areas of the Mathematics curriculum. All children must learn all of the times tables by the end of Year 4.

Please make sure your child has his/her full P.E kit in school every day and that all items are labelled. Our P.E. days are Tuesday (Swimming in the Autumn Term) and Wednesday. The school P.E kit is a white t-shirt, black shorts and black plimsolls. For health and safety reasons children are not permitted to wear earrings during P.E and long hair needs to be tied back. For swimming (Tuesdays) please ensure your child has a swim suit (for girls), swimming shorts (above the knee only) or trunks (for boys) and a towel. All hair must be tied back.

The children have been given a new water bottle lid which and will bring home their water bottle every day to be washed and refilled for the following day. Please ensure your child brings it in to school.

We look forward to a great partnership with you throughout Year 4.
