Welcome to Year 3

Class Team: S Mckeown, J Johnston, S Smith, S Leddy

Useful Learning Links for your child

Our theme this term is 'Meet the Flinstones' (The Stone Age)

It is about how people lived in Britain over 2000 years ago.

So far, we have discovered that light can travel through transparent materials, but not opaque materials, and a little through translucent materials. We have learned about homo sapien and neanderthal humans in the Stone Age and how they built stone circles and hunted.

(See below)

Maths Curriculum

During this half term we will be covering the following aspects of Maths: column addition and column subtraction and fractions.

English Curriculum

Using our theme of "Persuasion", the children will be looking in on the features of Persuasive Writing, through letters, advertising, debate and reports.

Science

The children are discovering the origins, uses and differences between various rocks and soils..

How You Can Help Your Child

  • Visit the library so that children have access to a range of non-fiction books about our theme.

  • Read a range of books and newspapers. Encourage your child to talk about what they have read to develop their understanding.

  • Encourage your child to learn and practice their times tables.
