Welcome

Welcome to Hawthorn!

It is a genuine pleasure and privilege for me to be part of this wonderful school.

Hawthorn has a real 'family' feel with all pupils and staff working together to achieve the very best of outcomes academically, socially and emotionally. We genuinely fulfil our pledge to develop the 'whole child' and pride ourselves on comments from various visitors that reinforce how polite, confident and engaged in learning our pupils are. The Secondary Schools that our Hawthorn Pupils go on to, and people from the many Educational Visits we make, also echo this positivity.

We are a Silver Rights Respecting School and are, at present, working towards achieving the Gold Standard as an on-going commitment to our children and local and wider community in equipping of  Hawthorn Pupils with the knowledge, skills and conscience to grow up as excellent and responsible 'Citizens of our Global World' with both Rights and Responsibilities. This fits with our overall Ethos and Philosophy and is echoed in our Vision and Values Statement which permeates throughout our whole school.

Our children are encouraged to have a 'Growth Mindset' and to see learning as a life-long exciting journey celebrating both successes and challenges along the way.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website which aims to give you a taster of our school as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community. However, please do feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.

We also very much welcome visits to our school and are very proud to show you around so you can see for yourselves the genuine excitement and engagement of our pupils in their learning and the great experiences provided by our dedicated and talented staff.

We know that we are entrusted with the most precious commodity and that it is our duty to ensure our pupils grow into confident, capable and compassionate citizens of the future with a life-long thirst for learning, ambition and aspiration and that they do so in a safe, supportive and happy environment.

Thank you for visiting our website - thank you for being, or thinking of being, part of our 'Hawthorn Family.'

With every good wish,

Kate Stone (Headteacher)
