Geography

Why do we teach Geography?

We deliver a high quality geography education that is progressive throughout the whole school. We believe that developing a thirst for learning in Geography will equip the children with the geographical knowledge and skills that will prepare them for their next stage of learning and for life as an adult in the wider world.

We seek to inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives; to promote the children’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

The curriculum at Hawthorn is bespoke.  We have chosen the areas of focus in Geography, taking into consideration the diverse community we serve.
