Computing

Why do we teach Computing?

As we are all living in an advancing, digital world, the children at Hawthorn Primary School are provided with rich, deep learning experiences that balance all the aspects of computing and online safety. Through developing and delivering a coherent and consistent computing curriculum, our pupils are provided with the skills and understanding to prepare them for the challenges and experiences available to them online, ensuring they are digitally capable individuals who recognise their rights and responsibilities.

Our pupils are encouraged to be ‘computational thinkers’ as they navigate, and understand, the digital world around them.  At Hawthorn Primary School, our pupils are introduced to a wide range of technology, including laptops, iPads, Microbits, Beebots and interactive whiteboards, which allow them to continually practise and improve the skills they learn across other subjects, including mathematics, science and design and technology; providing insights into both natural and artificial systems.
