At Hawthorn we have chosen British Sign Language as our modern foreign language. Our aim is for all pupils and staff to have the ability to understand and respond to our hearing impaired pupils and deaf people that they may meet in the community.

We are in the beginning stages of developing a brand new curriculum and our pupils will be learning to sign with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity. They will also be learning to improve the accuracy of their hand shapes and facial expressions.
